This recipe is a vegetarian adaptation of the classic Indian scrambled eggs dish, ‘Bhurji,’ with paneer serving as a delicious alternative. It’s a dry, stir-fried preparation that’s perfect for busy days when you need a tasty meal with minimal effort.

Main ingredients for paneer bhurji

The key ingredient is paneer (Indian cottage cheese), one of the most commonly used cheeses in Indian cuisine. For the best flavor and texture, use fresh homemade paneer, either grated or crumbled.

The paneer is cooked in a stir-fried masala made with onions, tomatoes, and a blend of Indian spices like ginger, garlic, coriander powder, and garam masala. Fresh coriander leaves and a squeeze of lemon juice can be added at the end for freshness and flavor.

The dish is simple & mildly flavored in general, but you can also add some pav bhaji masala to it for a different spicier flavor.

Nutrition value of paneer bhurji

Paneer has a myriad of health benefits, and is an excellent source of protein, making it a great choice for vegetarians. It also provides calcium, which supports bone health, and essential nutrients to keep you energized throughout the day.

Low in carbohydrates and high in healthy fats, this dish fits well into low-carb diets. It’s ideal for weight-conscious individuals and diabetics who want a satisfying yet balanced meal.

For added nutrition, vegetables like spinach, carrots, peas, or beans can be included. Paneer can also be substituted with tofu for a vegan-friendly version without compromising taste or health benefits.
